About the Cité Bibliothèque

The municipal library was founded in 1968 and was located at the "Place du Théâtre" until 1978. In 1979 the library moved to the "Centre Hamilius".

Since 26 September 2008 the library is established at the Cité building, 3, rue Genistre, near the "Place d'Armes". Since that day, the municipal library has become the "Cité-Bibliothèque".

In the new location, the "Cité-Bibliothèque" has not only extended the opening hours, but also increased the collections consisting of: books, audiobooks, films and periodicals in four languages (French, German, English and Luxembourgish) for adults, teenagers and children.

  • to promote contemporary literature and to encourage contact between readers and authors
  • to introduce young people and adults to the joy of reading
